Hey gang!

I have been drinking loads less. Having fantastic times with friends. Watching lots of shitty movies with Tanis. And I rounded off the week with a haircut and straight razor shave at a barbershop on Main and Broadway (next to the westward B-line stop) called "The Belmont". (gotta give props)


I DJ'd a party up in whistler a few weeks ago that was unbelievably fun. It was for this thing called "Gnarcore"... long story short, they're putting on a monthly event in the mountains and Dustin and I are going up there to play songs and get paid for it... (mostly fringe benifits...)

Last night alone:

Bison Burger, Creamy Tomato Soup, bottle of Jacobite Spice Ale


Tonight with Heidi and Dana:

Organic meatloaf, veggie side dish of beets asparagus and garden carrots, day-long boiled red cabbage, beet greens sauted in butter and garlic, and a home-baked focaccia glazed with a honey/cayenne pepper mixture with roasted sesames


Tomorrow with Brynna:

didn't like the bison burger so I'm converting the other patty into meatballs with garlic powder and chilli flakes for a pasta dish of some sort


Friday:

Back to work where I cook for everyone but myself.

So we have this dude I'm training at work:

calls pears "apples"
calls Porcini Oil "Petuli Sauce"
calls Scallion Oil "Relish Sauce"
I've seen him actually use his TEETH to peel an avocado
Basically doesn't clean up after himself what-so-ever
Is a total tool
His breath stiiiinks



But I love that he works there. I get to yell at him. The head Chefs all take me under their culinary wing because we have a common incompetent enemy......: "THE NEW GUY"


Which means: I'm no longer the "New Guy"!....

I think I'm just going to rent movies and practice my massage abilities on Brynna and Tim's feet for the next couple of weeks... its all i have the energy for anymore.


Furthermore, its Sunday and I'm watching Chinatown with Tim. If anyone else wants to watch Chinatown with me... anytime... let me know! Your world will be changed.

Yesterday was fantastic.

I woke up to Brynna getting ready for work. I quickly figured out my situation: no cash, starving, day off, bored.

So just as quickly, I came up with a plan. I told Brynna I'd clean our apocalypse of a messy house, do groceries, and have dinner made for when she got home from work... all for the cost of $15!

So the deal was struck and I spent the day cleaning, grocery shopping, recipe sorting, sautéing, boiling and frying... all with enough time to kick level 5's ass in Super Mario Bros.

IT WAS AMAZING! It was the most domestic I've been... since ever, i guess.

So I realized what I want in life: to be a stay at home husband. It would rule so hard.

And then Guys & Dolls kicked my ass last night. So many cool people showed up and we kept playing music until 2:30! The vibes were amazing. Its kind of taking on a life of its own and I'm pretty stoked about it. I think next week I'll actually play some pool.

Apparently I'm DJing with Garret and Steven this Thursday at the you-know-where. It should be good and terrifying times (for me). I've been practicing like insane. Garret! Lets get together thursday afternoon and practice for a few hours. I need to practice with a monitor and mixer, trading off tracks with you guys. STOKED!

Also, clearly the 600 bucks a month for rent is killing me. So I think I might be moving in June. Moving in with Tim, perhaps? It'll be awesome times. Tim, I'm at JJ tonight! Come find me, haha.

AFTERTHOUGHT--
oh yeah, and Saturday was retarded for me. I got spirited away in a car from this magazine party that I kept getting lost in due to all the different winding corridors. All i could think of was "oh man, I better leave before I embarrass myself and my friends! gads!!!" I hope I wasn't too late in that regard. I danced till 6am that night. Damnit. But needless to say, this weekend will be a whole lot of sobriety for me. And guess what, Y&R peeps, Hana & Dani are DJing at The Met this saturday for a one-off magazine release party for PYRAMID POWER. I think we should all check it out, being met affiliates and general dancing enthusiasts. End transmission.

Wow. You have all made yesterday the best birthday of my life! I seriously racked up "skid points" for walking to 7/11 with Jake for redbull during my BIRTHDAY SONG! I'm actually totally annoyed that I missed that!

So this week has been pretty wild. And I haven't posted for a long time. So yeah:

Met somebody pretty cool and have been stoked on hanging out with them... i can't seem to overcome that innate bumbling awkwardness that seems to only rear its head when you're hanging out with people you actually maybe want to impress. But it goes with the territory. I can only hope not to step into too many self-dug holes.

I missed a fantastical weekend of mayhem!... but I was broke and sick and both were good reasons to stay the eff home. Except I didn't! Bitsy and I checked out a would-be-55-dollar Air show. No, not the kind of Air show that you got a sunburn at when your dad took you to Abbotsford for the first and last time in 1996. Another kind of Air show. The kind with tight white pants, psychedelic light shows and glorified/beautified elevator music. It was awesome. Air rocked out, even.

Y&R has been going strong and I'm all too excited as the night rolls along. I've been really working on my traktor abilities and we'll see if I can spin something of any worth sometime soon- houseparty? But that shit is best left to the professionals. PS- I officially overheard Sex Attack referred to as "pros" in regards to DJing.


Oh yes, and its my muthafucking birthday this thursday. Eff ya. I'm officially old enough to start liking things "the way they used to be". Come watch me embarrass myself (more-so than usual!) at the met. Or come hang with me beforehand. My plans will involve Rockstar/Vodka drinks and guerilla BBQing from morning to 7:30. Any ideas?
